Uijin Cho

Hi! I’m Uijin / Jin / 의진, a student at Brown University studying applied math + computer science.

I’ve conducted machine learning research with satellite data, published data journalism with the Brown Daily Herald, and (will have) directed hackathons on both coasts.

Since high school, I’ve worked to expand STEM access through robotics and hackathons — and next up, I’m hoping to start the first collegiate-run high school hackathon in Rhode Island.

Long-term, I’m drawn to roles where product, data, and sustainability overlap.

I also compete with Brown University Badminton, enjoy reading in my free time, and play oboe & english horn with Providence Medical Orchestra and in musical productions.

Jun 1, 2026	I’ve begun my Salton Sea research project with Dr. Mara Freilich.
May 15, 2026	I completed my first year of undergrad at Brown University!
May 1, 2026	I postered at Brown University Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences’s DIVE research symposium! I presented my project on monsoons & air quality in Seoul, South Korea.

Apr 13, 2026	The Brown Daily Herald published data visualizations from the Spring 2026 Poll. I created the charts on Department of Public Safety approval, non-major course registration, and student employment.
Apr 6, 2026	I’ve accepted an offer with GoDaddy for their Software Engineer Intern Bootcamp program!
Apr 5, 2026	Brown Badminton took 6th place out of 18 teams at the Collegiate Spring Division 1B Finals.
Apr 3, 2026	I’ll be presenting my research project on air quality & monsoon trends in Seoul, South Korea at Brown University’s DEEPS Dive Research Symposium on May 3, 2026.
Mar 29, 2026	My project, perennial, was selected as a winner for YHack 2026’s ActualFoods prize track.
Mar 4, 2026	I’m excited to share I’ll be leading Hack@Brown 2027 as the Co-Director!
